“ Four of us enjoyed an excellent meal at the newly reopened Black Tiles last night. Despite living on Martlesham Heath, we rarely ate at the pub previously as it lacked atmosphere and the food was average, but we will definitely be visiting more often now. The renovation has transformed the pub and made it a lot more inviting. There’s a lot to choose from on the menu, most of which I’d have happily ordered. The fish and chips was as good as any I’ve had at a pub. In fact, I don’t know if I’ve had better chips. My wife and I shared the lamb kofta starter, which was generous and perfectly cooked, and then the chocolate fondant for dessert. The fondant had collapsed by the time it arrived at the table and was only lukewarm, but it still tasted great, likewise the ice cream. Service was friendly and perfectly paced. It’s great to finally have somewhere within walking distance where we can enjoy a lovely, well-priced meal. ”

“ Very busy restaurant. Parking spaces available. Walked in the back gate into beautiful gardens, with a fish pond and pretty lights. Tables and seating outside .The restaurant was beautifully decorated, with the tables all set. The meal was absolutely delicious and well presented. The staff are wonderful, they were so friendly and helpful. I would definitely recommend The Black Tiles. ”

“ Recently re-opened, the layout of the pub looks similar to previous, but everything has been tidied up and freshened up. The pub was looking tired when it closed under previous management, and the food offerings were not good at that point. Even though I didn't eat there when I visited, lots of people were having the food and it all looked very good and people seemed to be enjoying their meals. The pub is modern, clean and tidy and is a nice place to spend the evening, and it is good for families with a nice outside area and play area for younger children. The garden has a nice fountain with a water feature which makes sitting outside on warmer days / evenings very pleasant. The staff are friendly and service is fast. ”

“ Very good food with a luxury feel, reflected on the decor. Very nice modern feel and clean bathrooms. The cheesy chips had a good amount of cheese throughout the layers however they where quite salty. ”

“ Booked a table for 7 of us at less than an hours notice. They were very welcoming & the food was actually very good, bit apprehensive as had heard a couple of not so good comments , but not today. The staff were great & they were more than willing to supply tea plates, knife & candle lighter for the birthday cake. They even gave pur 'birthfay girl' a small bottle of Prosecco which was a really nice touch. So yes it was a great lunch with plenty of seating & good parking. Level acces disabled parking bays & disabled toilet . ”

“ A great experience. Great to see how they’ve refurbished both inside and out. Plenty of decent staff, great quality food and drinks. It’s nice to finally have a decent pub/restaurant in the area. Where else can you go locally without going into Woodbridge or to Milsoms? Menu choices really impressive, lots to try. Will do really well if standards stay the same. Busy and fully booked on a Wednesday - really pleased for the owners, and wish them all the best. ”

“ It says something when, in 'soft opening' week, the car park is full, the place is rammed and they are not accepting any walk-ins. Clearly this venue is much-needed in the local area. They've obviously spent a fortune on the refurbishment and very nice it is too. Lots of exposed brickwork and soft tones on the painted walls. Nice artwork as well. But why is there only a single hot air hand-drier in the gents, which is designed to provide facilities for up to 8 folk at one time? Nicely designed sinks, though. With our group numbering mid teens, it was nice that we had one dedicated server to look after us. Ashleigh was brilliant from start to finish, introducing herself at check-in, guiding folk to our table in the lounge area and staying attentive throughout the evening. All done with superb efficiency and a charming smile. Service at its very best! The food was good too, although there was an element of style over substance. I opted for the very well-presented and extremely tasty burger, which had a pathetically small basket of french fries to accompany it, while the Eton Mess was in Kilner jars with open lids, making them liable to topple over. A nightmare for the servers. Pretty to look at, but completely dysfunctional. The pud, not the staff! It was also impressive that,when it came to table-clearing, other staff appeared as if by magic, whisking everything away in record time. If Black Tiles management maintain this level of standard and staff training, then they are on to a sure-fire winner. ”

“ Stopped off last minute for a Sunday lunch. Staff very attentive, service quick. Food was top notch as always. Reading reviews that the food expensive??? 15 for a main these days is pretty much the norm. Comparing with a Wetherspoons and claiming food better there??? You are comparing freshly cooked food to a chain that microwaves half it's menu. Get real... ”
